“Run Ride Walk for the Park” is in honour of all children who were students of the Mohawk Institute Residential School ‘Mush Hole” and the proceeds from this fundraising campaign will go towards further development of the Mohawk Village Memorial Park.
On Saturday September 14th, 2024, Mohawk Village Memorial Park hosted its own fundraising event at the Blue track in Ohsweken. Individuals who participated this event, collected pledges/sponsors from donors in exchange for a physical activity of their choosing (example: running/riding/walking/etc).
You can create your own “Run Ride Walk for the Park” Fundraising event at a location and date of your choosing (before or after our event). Sponsor donations may be collected in person or online by registering our Canada Helps online campaign (https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/mohawk-village-memorial-park/p2p/RunRideWalk2024/).
If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact the “Run Ride Walk for the Park” planning committee at [email protected] or [email protected]
Mohawk Village Memorial Park is located on the same grounds of the ‘Mush Hole” (184 Mohawk Street, Brantford, Ontario). The Park is a Survivor-led initiative and is being built to honour the students who were at the institution from 1831 to its closing in 1970. The students came from approximately 60 communities and 2 regions across Canada. These communities will be recognized on a future Memorial monument in the park.
Mohawk Village Memorial Park will be a physical and symbolic representation of what can be achieved moving forward – a legacy, our group of Residential School Survivors want to leave for all.
